Safety policy

Emergency action plan.

Every training site has a written plan so coaches can respond fast if something goes wrong.

Last updated · May 2026

Before each session

Coaches confirm they know the address of the venue, the location of the nearest exits, and where to direct emergency responders. A charged phone and a basic first-aid kit are on hand at every session.

If an injury occurs

  • Stop the session and make the area safe.
  • Assess the athlete; call 911 for any serious or head/neck injury.
  • Provide first aid within the coach's training while waiting for help.
  • Notify the parent or guardian as soon as possible.

Severe weather and facility issues

If conditions become unsafe, outdoor sessions move indoors or are canceled. Coaches follow the host facility's evacuation procedures for fire or other emergencies.

After an incident

Coaches document what happened and report it to Next Wave Hoops leadership so we can follow up with the family and improve our procedures.
